If It Wasn't For The Women

  • St. Louis Art Museum (map)

Join us at the Saint Louis Art Museum for our annual celebration of women in the arts as the panelists discuss how art and science have shaped their work.

This year’s If It Wasn’t for the Women panel focuses on science, shape, and self. Three local artists, Wyndi DeSouza, Eugenia Alexander, and Yusra Ali, will talk about how science has played a role in the artwork they create.

Wyndi DeSouza utilizes photography, video, drawing, installation, books, and mail to create what she calls “abstract data.”

Yusra Ali curated St. Louis’ first Muslim art exhibition in April 2017 and utilizes geometric shapes commonly found in mosques to consider questions related to identity.

Eugenia Alexander is a multimedia artist who draws her inspirations from traditional African symbolism and textile design.

Through lines, circles, triangles, and other geometric shapes each of these extraordinary artists create works of art that harmoniously negotiate the space between art and science.

Tickets are free, but seating is limited. Advance tickets recommended. Please note that an RSVP to this Facebook event will not secure a seat.

Tickets may be reserved in person at the Museum’s Information Centers or through MetroTix at or 314.534.1111. All tickets reserved through MetroTix incur a service charge; the service charge is waived for tickets reserved at the Museum. Same day tickets, if available, can be obtained on-site only.
